Boston, Massachusetts, is considered the capital of many things, both officially and unofficially. Officially, it is the capital city of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and one of the oldest cities in the United States. Unofficially, Boston is the capital of the American Revolution with several major events taking place there, including the Boston Massacre and the notorious Boston Tea Party. It is often referred to as the Capital of New England due to its size and economic impact on the region.

This year, the city earns a new title as the location for the American College Health Association (ACHA) Annual Meeting. Conducted in collaboration with the New England College Health Association, the theme this year is “Service to Others, Compassion for All.” This blog will keep attendees up to date on meeting business, as well as showcase a small sample of what Boston has to offer.

Boston is the site of many firsts: the first public school, the first subway system in the United States, the first game of the first modern baseball World Series, and the first community health center. The city is home to many colleges and universities making it an international center for higher education and a center for medicine.

The city also has a rich sports history, with the cornerstone being Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox and the oldest major league baseball stadium currently in use. It is also home to the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots.

Boston is a modern city with historic roots. It’s the home of renowned educational institutions, diverse cultures, and iconic historic sites. With its abundance of museums, sports venues, theaters, shopping, and dining, Boston offers something for every visitor. Stay tuned for more on this one-of-a-kind city and announcements from the ACHA 2013 Annual meeting.
